This is a nicely finished barograph by Short & Mason, London. The style of the engraving on the lacquered base, together with the 'gate suspension' pen arm device suggests the instrument was made after 1930. However, when the movement was sent away for cleaning, the date 10.5.44 was found writted in pencil on the underside of the brass baseplate. See pic above. The hardwood case has recently been stripped and professionally repolished. The lift-off lid has bevelled glass all round and there is a chart drawer to the base.
