Barograph in Golden Oak c.1930s

A handsome display barograph set in a golden oak case. In excellent working condtion, the instrument, of typical form, bears all the hallmarks of the London maker, Short & Mason and made for the retail market around 1925/30. The lift-off lid has deep bevelled glass on all five sides, the two-compartment drawer has an ornate brass knob and there is a hardwood base below enclosing the drawer- a rarely used feature after the Edwardian era. The sturdy weekly clock movement is engraved with the 1909 patent reference. The glass ink bottle is topped with a brass stopper and looks to be original.

A quantity of weekly charts together with a fresh bottle of recording ink are included and also a reprinted period pamphlet by Negretti & Zambra Ltd describing operating instructions and how to interpret typical chart recordings.
